Charleston Conference Photography: FAB 2019
Where do I even start to explain my journey with FAB? When I first signed on to photograph this Charleston conference for women in hospitality back in 2017, I was excited but had no idea what I was in for. I was sure it would be a fun experience and interesting to shoot, visually, but little did I know how much I would learn over the next several years from an incredibly talented, driven, and down to earth group of women.
So what is FAB? FAB is 48 hours of educational and inspirational workshops created by women, for women in the hospitality industry… but it’s so much more than that. It’s women supporting women, it’s a place of honesty and openness, it’s a place of empowerment.
Getting to be a fly on the wall at this amazing annual conference has changed my perspective as a photographer, made me a better business owner, and a stronger woman. I’m so grateful for all of my experiences with FAB and to have met so many incredible women.
This year’s FAB kicked off in the courtyard at the William Aiken House on historic King Street in downtown Charleston and will take place at the American Theater. Attendees and speakers gathered under the live oaks and magnolia trees to enjoy cocktails and conversation before the welcoming presentation got underway. Founder Randi Weinstein kicked off the festivities with a warm welcome before Chef Preeti Mistry shared some impassioned words on social justice and the hospitality industry.
It was a pretty amazing start to what’s bound to be an incredible 48 hours and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
