Charleston Family Portrait: The Dayals
Once upon a time, long, long ago, I photographed the lovely wedding wedding of two very sweet people, Margo and Manish. (I also did their engagement shoot and rehearsal dinner!) Their wedding was a great time, to say the least. I’d bring out the photos to prove it but that’d be getting dangerously close to blackmail for some of those people on the dance floor. There were some epic moves at that wedding, to say the least.
Time moved on, and Margo and Manish moved. Like, a lot. They moved from Charleston to New York to California to Durham, in fact!
Fast forward to last weekend, their wedding anniversary weekend, actually, and the Dayals were back in Charleston… with their two new additions: twin baby boys!!
We all reunited in Charleston’s Hampton Park for a family portrait session, and though the weather was steamy, it couldn’t have gone more perfectly. The boys gave me a full hour of photography - that’s practically unheard of for babies their age! - and had a multitude of expressions. Can you spot some of the “Blue Steel” looks in there? They have such lovely and distinct personalities, even at their young age!
My favorite part, however, was that we recreated an epic photo from Margo and Manish’s engagement session years ago, pictured below.
Margo and Manish have a wee bit of a height difference, so we did this super fun photo where Margo did a perfect cheerleader-style jump to high five her very tall husband against the Charleston sunset.
This weekend, we recreated that adorable photo with two crying babies in the foreground at the end of our session - because this is real life, after all, and it is hilarious.
Welcome to the world, Mathai and Roshan! You’ve joined the most wonderful family. Congratulations again to the Dayals! It has been so lovely to capture such special moments in your life journey.
