Branding Photography: The Vibe at Chapman Knoll
One of the most challenging and delightful parts of a branding shoot is taking photographs that capture the vibe and feel of a place or company.
How do you visually communicate that “it” factor that separates one small business from all the competition? How do you set the client apart in a way that reaches out and grabs the viewer? How do you capture that sigh of relief that comes with fresh country air and the richness of a barnyard, free-range chicken egg?
With a place like Chapman Knoll, that wasn’t hard at all. While it is certainly a small working farm, Chapman Knoll is also a luxury retreat. The lodgings and grounds perfectly blend an authentic rural vibe with comfort, hospitality, and chic style. Seriously, I want owners Kim and Rodger to come decorate my hot mess of a house.
Chapman Knoll is both rooted in history - the farmhouse and barn were built in the late 1800s and there is a small cemetery on the grounds - and very modern. The two guest apartments have a wonderful farmhouse meets elegant bed and breakfast feel, and the working elements of the farm are punctuated with brilliant, colorful flowers and landscaping. Spacious decks overlook the cow pastures. Heck, even the chickens are beautiful.
There were so many vibrant colors, rich textures, and authentic moments during this branding session that I’ve separated these images out from the faces and spaces of Chapman Knoll. (You should definitely check out the faces, however. They were some of my favorite portraits I’ve done this year!)
I’ll have more on the spaces and interior of the Nests at Chapman Knoll up on the blog in a day or so, but if you’re ready to go ahead and book your stay, you can do that here.
Trust me, you won’t regret it.
