Charleston Proposal Photographer: Kathleen & Ryan
Every time I show up to work as a Charleston proposal photographer, I get so nervous I swear I'm more nervous than the groom-to-be!
I'm usually obsessively tracking the client via the "Find My Friends" app, staring at the stealthy selfie he sent me after getting ready, and hiding in the bushes. As the photographer, you never want to be the one to give away the imminent proposal and spoil the surprise.
And this, friends, is exactly what I was doing at Alhambra Hall a few weeks ago before Ryan proposed to his beautiful girlfriend, Kathleen. After a solid 20 minutes of aimlessly pretending to be a nature photographer (in a dress and ballet flats), I was able to turn my camera on the happy couple as they wandered along the marsh path toward the great live oak at the far end.
Ryan got down on one knee and popped the question, and Kathleen, of course, enthusiastically said yes. After documenting the proposal (and giving Kathleen a moment to check out that sparkler), we took some portraits around the grounds at Alhambra Hall.
Ryan and Kathleen were so over the moon; they made my job a breeze. I love capturing people's joy, and what's a happier occasion than two people in love deciding to spend the rest of their lives together?
Congratulations to Ryan, Kathleen, and their families on the amazing journey ahead. I wish you all every happiness together and a lifetime filled with love and laughter. (Oh, and a special shoutout to Ryan's incredible mom Mary Jean for all of her help with the logistics for this shoot!)
