Lake Lure Family Portrait: Elise & Ryan

One of my favorite parts about being a Lake Lure photographer, so far, is how many familiar faces I’ve seen this fall!

It feels like half of Charleston has been drawn up here for leaf season, and I’m pretty thrilled about it.

I love Elise and Ryan, they’re friends of ours from Charleston, and I was so excited when they reached out about doing a couple’s session. First of all, seeing friends is such a treat this year. Seeing friends up in the mountains? Even better. And getting to make some beautiful fall family portraits while I’m at it? Sign me up.

They also brought Satchmo, their sweet floofer, which earns them bonus points in my book. Anytime a client asks if it’s ok to bring their dog, the answer is a resounding “yes!” The more pups, the better. Plus, how dapper is that dude in his tiny tie? Give that pup a rawhide and a water on the rocks; he’s had a long day at the office.

Lake Lure offers a million gorgeous backdrops for portrait sessions, even when the leaves are a bit past their prime. (Hurricane Zeta did a number on the fall foliage right before our session, but isn’t that just 2020 in a nutshell?) It makes my job an absolute joy, and we managed to squeeze in windy autumn roads, a mountain stream, a waterfall, and some brilliant leaves, all in one session.

Do you have a mountain weekend or an Asheville reunion on the books and want to knock out this year’s Christmas card? Have camera, love to travel! Hit me up, and let’s book your family portrait session. And if you’re headed to Kiawah or want to do a downtown Charleston session, let’s compare schedules!
