Folly Beach Family Portrait Session: The Stanleys
Folly Beach is my favorite of all the Charleston beaches, and that’s saying something given how many we have in the area. I love the quirky beach town vibe, the pier, and probably most of all the food. Have you been to Jack of Cups? Chico Feo? The Tattooed Senorita? You’re missing out on some really tasty and creative eats, if not! These are two of my favorite spots around Charleston, so it doesn’t take much to persuade me to make the drive out there for a family session, obviously. Don’t threaten me with a good time, y’all.
The Stanley family rented a beautiful beach front home out on Folly Beach, which made a great backdrop for their family portrait session. The house had a lush green lawn with a palm tree-lined boardwalk on the left side, allowing us to get several looks and options for their family groups before heading out onto the beach!
We also lucked into some gorgeous weather that day, with soft, even lighting, reasonably temperatures, and moderate winds, making for a wonderful beach portrait session. (August can be brutal in the Lowcountry!)
It was so lovely to meet the whole family and celebrate three generations. We grabbed photos as a whole, separate nuclear families, and of course we got some fun, playful candids at the end of the session. And naturally with any boys under the age of 14, the jumping shots were probably their favorites (scroll to the end to check out that vertical leap!).
Thank you to the Stanleys for having me out to Folly Beach, let’s do it again next year!
