Charleston Event Photography: Holiday Meals for the Military
I had the pleasure of serving as the event photographer for two of Operation Homefront’s events in Charleston this fall, so today I’m sharing some of my favorite images from their Holiday Meals for the Military!
For Holiday Meals for the Military, Operation Homefront partnered with Food Lion to provide holiday meal kits for military families that included everything they would need for a holiday dinner. Each meal kit included a gift card to cover the protein costs, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and vegetables. Attendees received their gift cards as they entered the event, and their joy was contagious. Volunteers walked with the families, helping to carry and stuff their bags before helping each group load their goodies into their cars.
The event was filled with families from all walks of life, and there were plenty of kiddos in attendance. Operation Homefront spread cheer with adorable inflatables, a Santa who posed for photos and listened to Christmas wishes, cookies, and an arts and crafts table, all of which helped keep the little ones busy while their families got down to the serious business of prepping for the holidays.
Holiday Meals for the Military also offered families the opportunity to select five toys per child per family to help cover Christmas expenses, and since 2010, Operation Homefront has served nearly 100,000 military families, impacting over 430,000 family members.
This was such an inspiring day as an event photographer. The transformation that came over each family as they made their way through the line was palpable, bringing home what community and the holiday spirit are all about.
