Charleston Event Photography: Stems & Skins 3rd Anniversary Party
Beloved Park Circle wine bar Stems & Skins celebrated their 3rd anniversary with a pop-up dinner with beloved creative Asian food truck kitchen Short Grain. The cozy neighborhood bar, started by Justin Croxall and Matt Tunstall, first opened its doors in 2016.
Stems & Skins serves natural wines, classic cocktails, and craft beer from around the world and boasts a menu of “Fresh and Freaky Ferments” along with a delightful small plates menu. Short Grain is an “untraditional Japanese” food truck and local favorite, brought to the Lowcountry by Shuai Wang and Corrie Wang.
The intimate space at the Park Circle location was packed with both regulars and revelers for the anniversary fete and though it was a tight space, it was a joy to photograph the hustle and bustle of the party.
The best part of photographing any sort of hospitality event is the energy and joy of the scene, from the guests enjoying their first bites and raising a glass to old friendships to the kitchen and bar staff working together to provide a quality experience. The most challenging part, however, is always making the images happen without interfering with the fine dining experience! Grabbing photos on the fly is one of my favorite parts of event photography, fortunately.
I had a wonderful time working with Stems & Skins at this event and I look forward to returning soon without a camera (and with a wine glass!) to enjoy their beautiful space and a cheese and charcuterie plate. Cheers to the incredibly hardworking team at Stems & Skins, may you have many more anniversaries to come!
